Core Values

The Rowan County Home School Association exists to glorify God by supporting, encouraging, and equipping homeschooling families. We aim to create an environment where all members feel safe, respected, and welcomed. Our values are rooted in the truths of Scripture and the belief that every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). We strive to model Christlike character in speech, behavior, and appearance, showing love, humility, and mutual respect in all we do (Colossians 3:12-14; Philippians 2:3-4; John 13:34-35).

Biblical Standard of Conduct

Our actions, words, and attitudes should reflect Christ’s example (Ephesians 5:1-2; 1 Corinthians 10:31). We seek to build one another up (Ephesians 4:29), avoid actions that cause offense or division (Romans 14:19), and represent our group in a way that honors the Lord (Colossians 3:17).

Leader Authority

Group leaders, board members, and designated volunteers have the authority to address anyclothing, behavior, or situation they deem inappropriate, disruptive, unsafe, or inconsistent with this Code of Conduct.

They may:
*Speak directly to the individual or parent/guardian (Matthew 18:15-16)
*Request an immediate change (e.g., adjust attire, stop an activity)
*Ask a participant to leave the event if the issue is not resolved (Titus 2:15)

Resolution Process

Concerns will be handled privately and respectfully whenever possible (Galatians 6:1), with the goal of restoration and unity (Ephesians 4:3). If an issue persists after repeated discussions, the family may be asked to step back from RCHSA activities or membership (2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15).

THE LAW

Is Homeschooling legal in North Carolina? The short answer is YES.

North Carolina law defines a “homeschool” as “a nonpublic school consisting of the children of not more than two families or households, where the parents or legal guardians or members of either household determine the scope and sequence of academic instruction, provide academic instruction, and determine additional sources of academic instruction.” (NC Bill 189).

WHO IS RCHSA

The Rowan County Home School Association (RCHSA) is a Christ-centered homeschool support group serving Rowan County North Carolina and surrounding areas. We offer our members the opportunity to participate in academic programs and social activities that strengthen and promote traditional family values.

WHAT IS HOMESCHOOLING

Homeschooling is a form of education in which parents teach their children at home instead of sending them to a traditional public or private school. Families choose to homeschool for a variety of reasons, including special needs of children, dissatisfaction with the educational options available, different religious or educational philosophies, and the belief that children are not progressing within the traditional school structure.
